Wedding planning - choosing the gown

The dress is always the highlight of all wedding fantasies and make-believes. Ever since their youth, people will most often dream of a beautiful princess-bride in a snowy white, ethereal wedding dress of stunning beauty. It comes as no surprise that choosing the perfect wedding dress for your wedding will prove to be one of the most challenging and exciting part of planning your wedding.

Marriage is – ideally – an once-in-a-lifetime event. There isn’t much leeway to practice or make mistakes. So to make the bride’s entrance down the carpet perfect and memorable, one must take great pains to ensure that everything is done correctly – down to every little detail on the wedding dress.

From watching fantasy-like weddings on TV, or reading about them in books and magazines, or hearing about them from other people, many brides-to-be form an image in their minds of the kind of wedding dress they would like to wear on their wedding. Many people take a watch and learn stance as they formulate, plan and dream up their ideal wedding dress.

If your time has come, and you are shopping for the perfect dress to make your wedding dreams come true, then you have come to the right place. Here are a few tips to help you get over the wedding dress hump will less sweat.

1. The Dress Comes First

Although it may go both ways, the theme of your dress should follow your desired theme – or vice versa. Some couples choose a theme before choosing a gown, and in effect, they make the gown fit the theme they have chosen. But for some people, the choice of gown comes first, and the theme of the wedding follows the gown’s theme. So if the gown that catches the bride’s fancy is ultra beaded and formal, then the wedding may tend to be more formal. If the bride chooses a less formal dress, then the wedding may follow a less formal route.

2. Don’t Overwhelm Yourself with Choices

Yes, it may be tempting to try every gown that comes your way. But what if you find yourself buried under a pile of 20 or so gowns you think you really like and can’t make a decision? That sort of scenario will prove to be a terrible headache – not to mention a great source of stress.

To avoid this, try making decisions in stages. You could try an ‘American Idol’ style way of choosing a gown. You could vote off the least liked one and then reevaluate the remaining gowns.

Another method is trying 5 gowns and then choosing two of the best. These ‘champions’ will be pit against 5 more new gowns. Continue the tournament until you get to the perfect gown.

It may become tempting to say, “Aw, but that other gown might have been better.” Try to make sure you make your final decision among 5 gowns. If you end up with too many to choose from you may get overwhelmed and end up choosing an inferior gown, or choosing the perfect gown but forever asking yourself whether you made the right decision or not.

Choose Wisely

And choose a wise companion; take along one or two of your closest friends or confidants who know a thing or two about wedding dresses and style. Their advice will come in handy when choosing a gown. Also, make sure you check the durability and quality of the gown, the material and the accessories. You don’t want your gown falling apart on you during the ceremonies.

From tahitian to south sea and beyond common pearl types

There are three main types of cultured saltwater pearls: akoya, Tahitian, and South Sea. Pearls can be cultured in fresh water as well. Each type has distinct characteristics, and each is very beautiful in its own way. Like with most things, individual tastes determine pearl preferences. Or you may have a taste for every pearl variety! The following is a look at the main types of cultured pearls.

Akoya Cultured Pearls

Timeless and popular, the akoya cultured pearl probably comes to mind when you think of pearls. (Because akoyas are easier to match than other pearls, they are a popular choice for bracelets and necklaces.) These saltwater beauties are typically small (they range between 2mm and 11mm; average is 6mm-7mm), and are most commonly white or cream-colored.

Akoyas are produced in the akoya oyster, or P. fucata, the smallest of the saltwater pearl oysters. The main animals used for saltwater pearl culturing in Japan, these small oysters typically reach only 8cm to 13cm in diameter, but they can accept multiple nucleations—up to five at a time. (If a larger pearl is desired, however, only one bead is inserted.)

Akoya pearls were the first round cultured pearls—called “spherical” in the jewelry trade—that were produced. Approximately 70%-80% of a given akoya crop is spherical. Typically white or cream with rosй or green overtones, akoyas typically grow from eight months to two years before they’re harvested. A jewelry staple, the simple and classic white akoya strand is a popular choice for brides.

Tahitian Cultured Pearls

If you think of black pearls, you probably picture a peacock-blue-sheened Tahitian. This is a desirable hue for a Tahitian cultured pearl, but they can also be black, gray or brown with hues of blue, green, and purple and overtones of rosй, green or blue. Marketed just since the 1970s, Tahitians are revered for their exotic colors and large sizes, and, as you may have noticed, their large price tag reflects their relative rarity.

Tahitian pearls are produced mainly in French Polynesia in the so-called “black-lipped” oyster, P. margaritifera, a large saltwater mollusk that can grow up to 12 inches in diameter, weigh up to 11 lbs. and live up to 30 years. These oysters produce pearls that reach 8mm-14mm in size in a growth period that takes about two years.

Tahitian cultured pearls typically show fair to excellent luster, and achieve this by natural means, unlike akoyas and freshwater cultured pearls, which require treatment—usually bleaching—to bring out their sheen. When Tahitians are harvested, farmers wash them in fresh water, dry them and lightly buff them, usually by tumbling the gems with ground salt and bamboo chips.

P margaritifera can be nucleated, or implanted, several times over its lifetime, but in general, the first harvest produces the finest quality pearl. Unlike its smaller cousin, the akoya, Tahitian cultured pearls are spherical less than half the time. For this reason, it may take years to find just the right pearls to match for a necklace. This is one of the reasons why a matched strand of Tahitian cultured pearls is so costly. Because they can often come in unique shapes, however, Tahitians are used by many jewelry designers in pieces that feature a single pearl. These pieces are uniquely beautiful and can be as breathtaking as a costly Tahitian strand.

South Sea Cultured Pearls

P. maxima, one of the world’s largest mollusks, produces the magnificent South Sea cultured pearl, generally the largest cultured pearl on the market. As its name implies, the South Sea cultured pearl is produced in Australia, Indonesia and the Phillipines. (The cultured pearl is the national gem of the Phillipines.) Most South Sea pearls are silver, white, or a gorgeous and coveted golden color. Farmers do not treat these pearls after harvest, although some wholesale buyers do so after export.

Unlike a freshwater pearl mollusk, P. maxima can accept only one nucleation at a time; however the oyster can be nucleated up to three times in its lifetime. After nucleation, the South Sea cultured pearl requires 20-24 months to grow, and typically produces a pearl around 13mm, although some reach 15mm or larger. Between 10%-30% of any given crop contains spherical pearls. Australia produces about 60 percent of the supply of South Sea cultured pearls, although Indonesian farmers produce more of the golden variety than Australian farmers do.

Freshwater Cultured Pearls

Unlike their saltwater cousins, freshwater pearls are produced in mollusks rather than oysters, and, like their name implies, are grown in ponds, lakes and rivers rather than in the ocean. Most of today’s freshwater cultured pearls are produced in China, and, thanks to improvements in culturing techniques, the round, high-luster gems of today are a vast improvement over the inexpensive, squishy rice-krispie-shaped gems typical of the freshwater crop of yesteryear. Indeed many experts maintain that today’s freshwater cultured pearls rival the beauty of saltwater cultured pearls—a far cry from the freshwater pearl’s humble reputation from the not-so-distant past.

Freshwater cultured pearls are produced in mussels belonging to the family Unionidae. Most are grown in China, yet the United Sates produces its fair share. In fact, the mother-of-pearl beads used to induce the pearl growing process worldwide are made from ground American mussel shells.

Many freshwater pearls are nucleated, or implanted, with mantle tissue only, which is taken from a donor mussel. Because they do not contain a starter “bead,” tissue-nucleated freshwater pearls are 100% nacre. This gives them a beautiful luster and a durable surface that won’t flake or peel to reveal the inner bead. By contrast, pearls that are bead-nucleated and prematurely harvested often have only a thin coating of nacre that is prone to flaking and chipping. Unfortunately, pearls cannot be polished back to perfection once they’re destroyed.

Freshwater pearl-producing mussels can accept up to 50 implants at a time. They typically require 2-6 years to grow, and the finished pearl typically ranges in size from 4mm to 11mm. Larger freshwater pearls do exist, although their bigger size will likely be reflected in a bigger price tag. Approximately 60% of a typical freshwater pearl crop is made up of button pearls (flat on one side) or oval pearls. Only about 2% of the harvest is round, according to the latest information from the Gemological Institute of America. Baroque (no symmetry) and semi-baroque pearls typically make up the remainder of the crop. As with Tahitians and other pearl types, in a skilled designer’s hands, these unique pearls can be turned into extremely beautiful jewelry.

When it comes to color, the freshwater cultured pearl offers a wonderful variety. Pastels like cream, white, yellow, orange, and pink are common; as well, universally flattering lavender pearls are enjoying a surge in popularity today. When deciding which color freshwater pearls to buy, keep in mind that the wearer’s skin tone should be the most important consideration. Choose a color that will flatter and not detract. Overall, freshwater pearls are more plentiful than other pearl types, thus they are usually more affordable. Your budget may allow you to choose a few different colors!

Conclusion

Whatever your taste or budget, there is sure to be cultured pearl jewelry that will thrill you. Choose carefully, treat them with care, and your pearls will give you a lifetime of pleasure, no matter which variety you choose.

Good investment advice only for the rich

If you think good investment advice is only for the rich, you're not alone. Nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of investing Americans believe that those with more money are able to get better financial advice than those with less money. Further, more than a quarter (26 percent) state that it takes at least $100,000 to get top-quality financial advice.

This is according to a new survey by the Retirement Corporation of America, which also finds that more than half (56 percent) of investors believe that financial advisors lose credibility when they accept fees or commissions.

Given the above perceptions, it is not surprising that 53 percent rely on themselves or turn to family and friends when it is time to make investment decisions rather than seek professional advice. However, changing investment funds is easier said than done for investors. The survey finds that nearly a third (31 percent) are willing to wait from one to five years before they move their money from a poorly performing option to a better one. The factor that makes it most difficult for investors when contemplating change is the scarcity of time to conduct adequate research, as cited by a third of respondents. This is followed by 20 percent who state that they are confused by all the available options and 16 percent who are afraid of making the wrong decisions.

The Retirement Corporation of America conducted this survey to better understand why consumers stay invested in poor-performing mutual funds. Their newly launched investment opportunity-Money Masters Investment Portfolio-is the first to offer unbiased advice and access to top-performing investment funds for every American.

Taking The Guesswork Out

The good news for confused American investors is the new registered investment advisory account (the "R" Account), offered through the Retirement Corporation of America, with no minimum account balance, commissions, transaction fees or exit penalties. It allows investors to access a fully managed Money Masters Investment Portfolio containing 15 of the world's top-performing mutual fund managers-the "Money Masters." The Money Masters are the top 10 stock fund and top five bond fund managers chosen from more than 8,000 fund managers who meet very strict selection criteria.

How It Works

When an investor opens an "R" Account, Retirement Corporation of America advisors determine the individual's objectives and risk tolerance. Based on that profile, a Money Masters Investment Portfolio is created to best suit the individual investor's needs.

Don t confuse me with the facts

These days, speaking with most Democrats is like being "Alice, In Wonderland". Most of them seem to be going under the old saying "Don't Confuse Me With The Facts", it seems that many of their statements are based on emotions instead of reality. I used to enjoy discussing politics, especially with people that disagreed with me (I felt that I might learn something new or different.). I still do, but lately I have found that, while I still enjoy discussing politics with Independents and Republicans, I no longer enjoy discussing politics with most Democrats. They almost all say the same things and they sound as if they are reading from a script.

Numerous Democrats that I have spoken with have stated, to paraphrase, "I don't like Bush (They never say President Bush), he's a thief and a liar and he is owned by the oil companies. He only cares about the rich. Nothing he says or does can be any good. Additionally, he is not smart enough to be President.". The words they actually use are much worse, I just don't wish to repeat them here.

The first thing that they all say is "Bush and his cronies stole the presidency from Vice-President Gore (They say President or Vice-President when speaking about President Clinton or Vice-President Gore.) in 2000.". They say "Bush lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction.". They say "Bush has ruined our economy". They say "Bush was too slow in handling the Katrina disaster because he is prejudiced against blacks." They say, "Bush has turned the world against us.". Some are now even saying, "Bush knew that 9/11 was going to happen and did nothing to stop it so he would have an excuse for invading Iraq.". When I ask them how they know these things they quote David Letterman, Jay Leno, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Edward Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Barbara Streisand and numerous other far left politicians, celebrities and newscasters.

I attempt to discover all sides of the issues so I watch NBC News, Fox News and CNN, I read the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Forbes and other magazines and newspapers. When I ask my Democrat acquaintances if they watch Fox News, they all say "No, it's too right wing.". When I ask if they read the Wall Street Journal, Most say "No, it's too biased.", and even the ones that do admit to reading the Journal say, "I only read the financial pages.". When I ask if they read or watch any conservative media at all, they say "No, all that you find in the conservative media are lies and cover ups.".

When I try to counter some of their anti Bush statements with facts, they usually become upset and say "I don't want to hear your facts, they are all lies spread by 'big business' and 'right wing religious groups', and even if they are true, I don't care.". "I don't like Bush and that's all that matters.". When I ask them for proof of their allegations against President Bush, they usually either quote someone on the far left or say "Everyone knows it's true.". If I push them further they get upset and refuse to discuss the matter further. I have found that if you just listen to them and don't disagree with them, they can talk forever about how bad President Bush and the Republican Party are. However, if you disagree with any part of anything they say, they will usually end the conversation immediately by changing the subject.

I don't necessarily agree with, or even care for, everything that President Bush says or does, but the strident clamoring of the Democrats is forcing me to, more and more, side with him and the Republican Party. I am a Republican, but used to consider myself an Independent and voted my conscience rather than for a political party. Now, the blatant partisanship and lack of reason displayed by the Democratic Party has forced me to become an ardent Republican. The Republican Party, at least, still embraces some liberals and moderates. The Democratic Party appears to be trying to silence anyone who doesn't agree with the far left.

Can well-maintained greens lower your scores

I don’t often mention green maintenance in my golf lessons. Nor do I often discuss it in my golf tips. That’s because golfers want to talk about hitting the ball instead. But the care and feeding of a club’s greens—how they are mowed, watered, fertilized — can have a major impact on a player’s golf handicap, especially if he or she plays the same course a lot.

Speed is the key factor when considering green maintenance. Usually, players want a superintendent to increase green speed. It’s probably the most frequent request about greens. Occasionally, players want a superintendent to decrease green speed, but these requests are few and far between. Misjudging the speed of a putt can add strokes to a score, as I’ve mentioned in my golf tips.

The term “green speed” is technically inaccurate. The device measuring “speed” — the USGA Stimpmeter — gauges the distance a ball rolls when released at a controlled speed on a putting surface, not the ball’s velocity. To talk about green speed then is a bit of a misnomer. Nevertheless, we continue to use the term when talking about greens. (I even use it when giving golf lessons.) A green with a relatively long ball roll is considered “fast.” A green with a relatively short ball roll is said to be “slow.”

Ball roll relates to relationship between the initial energy when a putter strikes the ball and the resistance between the ball and the turf’s surface, or friction. As the ball rolls across the green, its surface slows it down thanks to friction. A green with high resistance slows a ball down more than a green with low resistance. Moderating friction changes a green’s speed.

Environmental factors, such as humidity, can moderate friction and change a green’s speed. For example, high humidity increases green speed, a consideration when playing on a hot day. Soil type also influences green speed. Greens made predominately of clay are faster in spring than their sandier counterparts. While superintendents have little or no control over these factors, they have minimal impact on your game.

Management practices, on the other hand, like mowing or irrigation, can make a profound impact on a green, both short-term and long-term. Below is a summary of how some popular management practices affect green speed.

Mowing:

An effective way of increasing ball roll in the short-term, mowing has a significant impact on green speed. Decreasing mowing height by only 1/16 inch can increase ball roll from 6 to 10 inches. A similar response occurs when you “double cut” a green (mowing it a second time, perpendicular to the first cut) which can increase ball roll 6 to 12 inches. Mower type also influences green speed. Greens cut with a walk-behind mower are generally 6 to 8 inches fast than greens cut with triplex mowers.

Irrigation

Dry greens are faster than moist or wet greens. Withholding irrigation or decreasing it before an event requiring faster greens will increase ball roll 4 to 8 inches, depending on soil type.

Rolling

Rolling golf greens isn’t new, but it’s growing in popularity thanks to new research and better equipment. Depending on the type of roller you use, you can increase green speed from 4 to 10 inches, with minimal compaction problems on sand-based greens

Topdressing

Light frequent topdressing with or without vertical mowing or core aerating is common. Topdressing decreases speed for up to 1 week after application, followed by an increase of from 4 to 8 inches (above the speed before topdressing.) Vertical mowing has a similar effect. Core aeration reduces speed initially, and if you don’t topdress to fill in the holes, decrease it long term.

Fertility

Decreasing nitrogen fertility will gradually increase ball-roll distance. A decrease in nitrogen fertility of only 10 percent can increase ball roll 8 to 12 percent. The effects may take up to a year to see, however, depending on previous fertility practices. Plant growth regulators can increase ball roll from 4 to 8 inches, depending on product, rate, and frequency of application.

Keep in mind that these factors do not operate independently. Modifying one may require compensation by modifying another.

Next time you play your favorite course be aware of these factors and how they affect a green. Take them into account when putting. Doing so might just help you improve your round and your golf handicap.

Definition of whole life insurance

Whole life insurance, also known as “cash-value” insurance is a basic and consistent type of permanent life insurance which remains in effect your entire life at a level premium. This life insurance is a good choice got you if you do not expect your life insurance needs to diminish over time. A portion of your premium goes into a reserve fund called ‘cash value’ that builds up over the years your policy is in affect. Your reserve fund is tax-deferred and you can borrow against it, until you withdraw it.

The premiums must generally remain constant over the life of the policy and must be paid periodically according to the amount indicated in the policy. You may also have the option of a single premium -- paying all of the premiums at once with a single lump sum. Your cash values will grow to equal the amount of the death benefit when you turn to age 100.

Although, whole life insurance is very expensive, and if you're on a limited budget, you may not be able to afford all the insurance coverage you actually need. But the plus point is that the death

benefit is guaranteed as long as premiums are met. Also death benefit will never decrease if you don't borrow against it.

Whole life insurance policy's returns will fluctuate with the markets and will usually follow returns

available from other investments like equity mutual funds. However, if you decide to quit your policy, your cash value can be paid in cash or paid-up insurance.

Whole life insurance is most suitable for you, if you want to:

• use it as a tax and estate planning vehicle,

• accumulate cash value for a child's education or retirement,

• pay final expenses,

• provide money for a favorite charity,

• fund a business buy/sell agreement,

• provide key person protection.

Before buying the whole life insurance, you need to think carefully about choosing your level of

coverage. Too often people make the mistake of insufficiently covering or even worse, financially

overextending themselves. This would be a tragic error with whole life insurance policy because

defaulting on premium payments can mean policy cancellation and the loss of your entire investment. So be careful and make sure you:

• pick a life insurance policy that has a guaranteed cash value starting at the very first year,

• choose the one with the highest cash value in the very first year,

• consider "participating" insurance policies which can pay dividends, increasing your policy's value by boosting both the total cash value and the death benefits,

• beware of any insurance policy that levies "surrender charges" when you cancel.

• if you ever need to stop paying premiums, your policy lets you use the accumulated cash value of the life insurance policy to pay the premiums, thus keeping your coverage current.

The university of phoenix degree program vs. a traditional degree program

There are different schools of thoughts advocating either a traditional degree or an online degree. Whereas the goal of education and job marketability remains the same, the point of argument is over the ways in which the goal is attained. You will be better able to reach an effective decision if you weigh the pros and cons of both.

A traditional degree requires a student to be physically present for a class at a predetermined location at a specific time. An online education in an accredited institution like the University of Phoenix has been able to make this a non-requirement. You can be anywhere in the world and still access your learning material whenever you find time to do it, thus making it possible for you to pursue your career and maintain a full-time job.

A regular classroom allows a vibrant discussion and proactive learning process through face-to-face interactions with colleagues and guides. Although an online education is unable to ensure the vibrancy and spontaneity of a classroom, it allows interaction with guides and classmates in a virtual classroom situation.

A classroom situation is time bound and follows strict schedules, pressurizing students to meet deadlines and submission dates, unlike the online course that sets flexible time schedules according to students’ requirements. Whereas this enables working learners to fit in education in their busy schedules, it could also prove to be deterrent for those learners who perform better under stricter timelines.

Although an online education might not be the same college experience as a traditional degree, it meets the most important goal of education and should be considered by aspirants who do not find more traditional colleges appealing. The University of Phoenix Online offers a curriculum that fits almost every student’s timetable, with the backing of a strong faculty.

Preparing for your next flight

:
Are you planning on taking a family vacation this year or a business trip? If so, there is a good chance that you will be flying. Flying is a relatively safe, easy, and convenient way to travel. However, before you leave for the airport, you are advised to start preparing for your flight, well in advance. Unfortunately, many travelers do not realize that preparing for your flight does not just include packing your bags. Thanks to new air travel rules and the enforcement of them, preparation now includes more than you could ever imagine.

As previously mentioned, it best that you start preparing for your cheap flights early. In fact, you should start preparing as soon as you buy your airline tickets, whether that be two weeks before you leave or two months. The first step that you will want take is to familiarize yourself with the airline that you are flying with and the airport which you will be flying out of. You can easily do this research online. You will want to determine how early you should leave for the airport and what items you will need to bring along with you, such as personal identification.

It is also a good idea to review the list of banned items. These are items that you are not allowed to have on the airplane or past certain points in most airports. The most commonly banned items include sharp objects and flammable items, but there other items included in these bans, items that you may have never even thought about before. That is why it is best that you learn what you can and cannot bring on your next family vacation or business trip. In the event that you try to bring along items that are prohibited, you may have them confiscated.

If you are planning on familiarizing yourself with banned items and other airline rules, it may be a good idea to print off a list of what you find. Printable lists of items that are banned in airports and on airplanes can be found online from a number of different websites. One of those websites includes the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). A printable list is ideal, especially if you do not need to start packing for your trip right away.

After you have familiarized yourself with the air travel rules, including the ones that were recently implemented, you will need to start packing, whether you do so right away or not. When packing, you will want to remember everything that you learned, although, if you printed off a list, your packing will be much easier. In the event that you are not sure whether or not an item can be brought on an airplane, you are advised to leave it at home. Banned items can not only be confiscated, but they could cause you to miss your cheap flight. That is why you are advised against taking any unnecessary chances.

Once your bags have been packed and all your travel plans are in order, you will need to head to the airport. It is advised that you arrive at the airport, at least, two hours in advance. It is important that you check with your airport, because some airports have different restrictions. Depending on the size of your airport or the number of cheap flights going in and out, you may find that you need to arrive three or even four hours in advance. It is also important to make sure that you not only have your plane tickets with you, but the proper forms of identification.

Once at the airport, it is important that you remain calm at all times, even if you are approached by airport security. In today’s world, it is not uncommon for you to be subject to a random bag check or search; therefore, you should not fret if you are asked. Instead, just remain calm and, in no time at all, you should be on your way to enjoying your vacation or your business trip.

Google best search engine optimization seo practices part 2

The second part of this article will guide you through the important steps on how to on-page optimize sites in Google. If you have an existing site, use this as a reference to ensure that you are doing everything right. We review 5 more areas.

Keyword research, the beginning.

Start with 5-10 keyword phrases, create content, optimize, post, maybe publish… Why? Are you building an authority? Then, wait until you have at least 100 pages. Otherwise continue. But 5-10 pages at a time can go a long way towards an authoritative site. Remember, what works… takes work.

Keyword refinement, the outgoing.

Following the previous though. After your initial research, primarily of some data you have form various keyword tools, you need to rely on your web analytics to see how focused your optimization is based on your visitors. That is what “outgoing” means here. You need to look at this information, especially search engine and searcher behavior, and refine your optimization even further, for the cycle of your site.

The importance of content tagging.

This is basically bolding or italicizing of keywords phrases in content. Don’t overdue it. It is recommended to use it for user experience mainly. Doing it right will bring good benefits.

Article marketing and its impact.

Writing articles is a great way to add fresh content to your site that is worth linking to. Now, for a good optimization of the content, add your keyword phrase within the first 20 words, at the of the page. Optimize one main keyword phrase per page.

The return of the niche… and off course authority sites.

Sites within 3-12 pages known as “niche” are OK in Google. You don’t need to target or optimize every page, but you should have one page for every target key phrase you want to rank for. If you are after an authority type of site, then you need daily fresh content with 450-500 words a page. This content can be in the form of daily articles you can host and syndicate for your site. Also, a blog or forum is another great way to generate fresh content.

Crafting good title tags for seo and clickability

It's amazing to me, the number of people who still do not take proper advantage of the power of the title tag. The title tag, is arguably THE most important on-page factor in SEO (and much more as you'll soon learn).

If you happen not to be too versed in HTML coding I'll explain what the title tag is.

The title tag is found within the and tags of a webpage. It's format is as follows:

Your Page Title Here

The title tag is important for two very simple reasons.

1) The title of the page is given an enormous amount of weight by the search engines. It always has and it always will. It's of less importance today than it was 6 or 7 years ago, but it is still the most important on-the-page factor a page has. After all, it's sole purpose is to describe the page so it *should* be considered important.

2) The title tag is also used as the anchor text of your listing in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). When someone visits a search engine and runs a search for one of your products, if one of your pages comes up in that search, it is the title tag that the visitor will see (along with a short description) and be able to click on to visit that page.

The problem is a LOT of webmaster's simply don't understand or make proper use of the title tag. Instead of name the page using keywords relevant to that specific page, they use their company name, etc.

Unless you are FORD, GE, or some other multi-million dollar company you should NEVER have your company name or website name (unless it's an SEO'ed website name) in the title tag. Are people going to be searching for your company or website name or are they going to be searching for keywords related to your product or service?

Let's look at a quick example from a real search I ran earlier today:

So a ran a search for "lawn chairs" clicked to page number two and there sitting at #14 is a site with the title "Brookbend".

Now, this particular site actually has a LOT wrong with it, but for now we'll stick to the title tag, or lack-there-of as this particular site's title tag actually just said "Untitled Document". As a result, Google replaced that with the name from the URL which Google will often do when a webmaster does something stupid such as this. ;)

As I said, this particular listing was the 14th listing for "lawn chairs". That is actually VERY good considering it doesn't have a title tag. Imagine what it could have ranked if it had actually made use of the title tag? Possible using something along the lines of:

*Beautiful Outdoor Furniture, Lawn Chairs, Patio Tables*

Think they may have been able to achieve an even better rank? I would venture to say yes.

Now, there is also a second problem with their lack of a title tag and that is that their listing in the search engine is simply "Brookbend". I don't know about you, but if I'm looking for "lawn chairs" I'm probably not going to click on a listing that just says "Brookbend". For one reason, it doesn't contain either of the search terms I used in the title. For another thing, it isn't very "clickable".

You see, a title tag should do two things. It should incorporate that pages most important phrases and it should make someone want to click on it. You will notice in my above example, for the title I used "Beautiful Outdoor Furniture...". That is because, while I wanted the keywords in there, I also wanted it to read well and entice the surfer to click on it. After all, it doesn't do much good to get a top ranking if no one clicks on your listing.

So, when you are designing your pages always remember to:

1) Decide on what that pages target keywords are

2) Incorporate those keywords into the title tag of the page

3) Make sure the title tag is enticing enough to make the visitor WANT to click on it.

Do the above three consistently and you will see the results in no time.

See you at the top!

Step by step guide to choosing the right dog breed

Did you know that there are several hundred dog breeds? With that large number of breeds to choose from, how do people manage to decide which breed is right for them? Luckily, you can narrow down the choices and find the right dog breed by following a few simple steps.

First, consider your available space. Do you live in an apartment? If so, you will want to rule out large dogs. Look for dogs in the Toy group, such as Yorkshire Terriers, or some of the smaller dogs in the Terrier group, like the Miniature Schnauzer.

If you have children, you will want to consider the size of your dog, as well. Very small dogs, such as Chihuahuas or Maltese, can be very delicate and are often accidentally injured by young children. On the other hand, very large dogs, such as Boxers or Saint Bernards, can be overly boisterous as puppies and can accidentally turn your child into a human bowling pin. Consider medium sized breeds, such as Fox Terriers or Lhasa Apsos, instead.

Next, consider how much exercise you can give your dog. If you have a home with a fenced yard, your dog will be able to get some exercise on his own. However, dog breeds in the Sporting, Hound, and Herding groups are very high energy animals and you will need to have enough time to provide them with more intensive exercise. Plan to take a lot of long walks with your dog or go for a daily romp in the park. After all, these dog breeds were bred to work hard and don't do well unless they have a job to do or a way to burn off excess energy.

Finally, don't forget to consider grooming needs. Some dog breeds only need a half hour or so of grooming a week, while others need to be groomed for an hour a day. If you are short on time, don't buy a Standard Poodle or a Maltese, unless, of course, you plan to take your dog to a groom. Breeds like Boston Terriers or Whippets are good choices for people who don't have time to do a lot of grooming.

Once you decide which breed of dog you want, you will need to consider the age of the dog. Many people opt to buy a cuddly little puppy instead of an older dog. While puppies have not developed any bad habits, it will be up to the new owner to be sure that the puppy becomes housebroken and obedience trained. Older dogs are frequently already housebroken and usually have some obedience training. They are also more likely to be less hyper and less destructive. However, they can have behavioral problems or health problems that prompted the former owner to find them a new home.

Do you want to buy a puppy? If so, you will need to find a reputable dog breeder who has a litter of the breed you are interested in. Often, a good breeder will have a waiting list for puppies. If you aren't the patient sort, you may be tempted to buy a puppy from a pet store. However, many pet store puppies come from puppy mills and have genetic health defects, bad temperaments, or other problems. It is usually safest to buy a puppy directly from the breeder.

If you are interested in an older dog, you may want to visit your local animal shelter or call a breed rescue. These groups evaluate the dogs' health and temperament before adopting them out.

Once you've narrowed down the breed choices and have decided which dog is right for you, don't get too relaxed. After all, you still have one more important decision to make, what to name your new companion!

Why do people set goals for themselves

All successful people set goals, so goal setting must be a worthwhile activity to do.

One on the main reasons why people set goals is because goals focus the mind and give it something to work towards. Goals are therefore like having a destination in life, and the things you do to achieve those goals are how you get there.

Without goals you will have no destination to go to, and so will be blown around like a leaf in the wind, never really going anywhere.

How To Write Goals?

When you have decided exactly what you want to achieve in certain areas of your life, such as romantic or financial, your next step is to write this in goal format.

Goal format simply means writing goals beginning with “I have” or “I am”, so they are written as if you have already accomplished them. This tells the mind exactly what you want to do so it can start working on achieve those goals.

However if you were to write goals beginning with “I will” or “I want” then it is unlikely you will achieve those goals, as to the mind these statements will always be in the future and so will never come.

Set A Deadline

Once you have your goals written down, you must then create a deadline for you to do them by. Without a deadline you will not be motivated to achieve them, and so will most likely give up on them after awhile.

Make A Plan

After your goals have been written down you should then create a plan as to how you are going to do them. For example if your goal is to loose a certain amount of weight, then your plan would include activities you must do to loose that weight.

This can include things like exercising 4 days a week and eating healthy foods. But whatever you do, try to make your plan as specific as possible. Although don’t worry about getting it right the first time round. You can always add to it later on.

Overview

Well that’s really all there is to setting goals. It’s nothing complicated, but it does require some initial time to be set aside so you can decide what goals you want to go after, and then how you will achieve them. These are the main principles of goal setting, and if you can follow these simple steps you will be well on your way to achieving them!

How you can consolidate the loans of your students

Usually, consolidation is a faster way to get out of students' debt than a reasonable and affordable payment plan. Once you go through the application process and get a direct Consolidation Loan, you will immediately be taken out of default status. You will stay this way as long as you keep making payments.

Although student loans are not secured debt, and therefore you will not lose your home or car if you don't pay them, they are also different from most other unsecure debts. If you don't pay your student loans, you won't be able toget additional student loans or grants in the future. In addition you will be subjected to a number of special debt collection tactics that only the government can use.

These government collection tools can have very severe consequences.

First, the government can charge you collection fees, often far in excess of the amount you originally borrowed. Second, unlike almost every other kind of debt imaginable, thereis no statute of limitations for collection of student loans. This means that every 20-30 years after you went to school, the government can continue to try to collect your loans.

If you don't pay your student loans, the government can also:

- seize your income tax refund

- garnish a certain percentage of your disposable income

- attach some federal benefits that are usually exempt for collection, such as Social Security income

If you get notice of a wage garnishment or tax intercept, you have the right to challenge it by requesting a hearing.

Sometimes just the act of requesting a hearing prompts the collector to agree to a payment plan. if you can pay a small amount, you should consider the various affordable payments plan that can get you out of default.

The department of Education's student loan assists borrowers with student loan problems.

If you are having problems making your student loan payments because you have a low income you may be able to get help from your local legal aid or legal services office.

London the ultimate survivor

Few cities of the world can truly stir the emotions - romantic dreams, adventurous spirit, waves of excitement, even twinges of envy. Over time, they have become the inspiration for novels and films, the obsessions of ravenous warmongers, and the marketing tools of TV producers who flash their images across our screens to make us gush, “Oh, this must be an important, credible international news program that covers the big stories as they happen” and “Smashing! This travel show really has been to the cool places, let’s see where they venture tonight”. However, you can only really say you’ve made it as a truly great city when they write a nursery rhyme about one of your bridges, even when it’s falling down.

London is the ultimate survivor.

It has endured and overcome conquests, wars, fires, plagues, terrorism, youth movements, repeated sporting defeats clutched from the hand of victory, even Chris De Burgh singing Lady in Red at the top of the charts for three weeks. Through it all, Londoners have stood proud and defiant as they adapt and continue to build their fair city.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, this enormous city offers the traveler a blend of old and new worlds like nowhere else. On one hand London is innovative, energetic, dynamic, and outrageous; on the other, historic, conservative and frustratingly established. A bangers and mash of the anticipated and unexpected, but rarely the disappointing - and those who live here wouldn’t have it any other way.

Most people know a little about London even before they have been formally introduced. It may be the familiar symbols of Royals, bowler hats, well mannered cricketing gents, well heeled ladies, majestic castles, the flowing Thames, tennis at Wimbledon, afternoon tea and scones, monopoly board landmarks, West End theatre and East End humour that spring to mind.

It could be the cobble-stoned streets of Dickens, passionate football fans, fish n chips drowning in vinegar, the labyrinth of the Underground, or the cultural phenomena and festivals celebrating music over decades starting in the swinging 60’s, through punk of the 70’s, new romantic hairdo’s of the 80’s, and pop, indie rock, dance and hip hop of the 90’s and beyond.

More than this, the city is renowned for it’s wealth of history and culture. As home to Britain’s national art collections, striking architecture, over 200 museums, the worlds premier theatre productions, 5 major orchestras, 2 major opera companies; there is something for visitors of all historic and artistic persuasions.

Anyone familiar with television shows and films set in the city might be forgiven for thinking we spend all our time in our local pub telling jokes and hard luck stories, or doing deals on goods that conveniently fell off the back of a truck. In fact, there are more parks and green space in London than in any city of its size in the world, where we wander, picnic, and play, away from the bustle of big city living – before the pub opens anyway.

The city is a shop-a-holics nirvana – just ask any female armed with a credit card and the lamest of excuses for a spending spree. From major department stores to designer boutiques and street markets, if you can’t find it in London, it probably doesn’t exist. And once you’ve lugged all that booty back to your hotel, there are hundreds of restaurants, pubs, cinemas, nightclubs, live music and comedy venues to keep you entertained well into the early hours.

London has also embraced multiculturalism like very few places in the world. It has become a cultural melting pot with over 10 million people from all over the world now calling it home. The integration of western cultures with people from Africa, West Indies, and all over Asia has transformed the city into one of the most diverse destinations for first time travelers, and the hundreds of thousands who return year after year.

”Just stop right there, old chap” I hear you say. “This is all rather charming, stirring and patriotic, but you’ve failed to even mention how damn expensive the place is!” Actually, we were just getting to that part.

It’s true. London is one of the most expensive cities in the world, painfully so for some. In fact, it’s rumored that instead of using whips and chains, London dominatrix now just stand about looking very stern while converting international clients travel expenses from the merciless English Pound into their submissive local currency with a leather-bound calculator. Ouch!

London is great fun so if you are visiting or planning to visit you will have a wonderful time.

Bass fishing tackle helpful tips and advice

Many say that only those people who live along the seashore get fond of fishing. Most working individuals who live in the cities find more interest to go fishing particularly during weekends when they tend to have their rest after a long week pressure in work.

It is true that some of the people consider it as their source of living but others find pleasure in it, so finally they will realize to just make it as their hobby. Don’t you know that most of the people who are getting into it even spend a lot of money just to buy the necessary equipments for fishing? It includes the baits, fishing rod and even the boats that they prefer to use when they go fishing. Some would even make it as their collections.

Talking about fishing as a hobby and just to give you finer points about it, there are lots of information about bass fishing that you can surf in the net.

Lots of boxes full of lures and baits can be found when you deal about bass fishing. They had been used once or twice and sometimes anglers would suddenly realize that these lures would serve its purpose anyway, so they shouldn’t regret even though they spend a lot of money just to purchase such stuffs.

If this is your motivation for most of your lure purchases, then before you walk into the tackle shop again and spend some more of your hard earned money, you may want to take some advices first from someone who has been there and done that, so you wouldn’t spare any regret in the end.

Most of the anglers usually go to their favorite tackle departments and try to check on the different selections of offerings that they are thinking and planning to purchase. One of the examples of the things that you can realize after visiting your most favorites tackle department is that, fisherman should take it more significantly to look at their lures as tools and not as toys.

Moreover, aside from the necessity of knowing the right tool to be used, for a successful and dedicated bass fisherman, it is a significant consideration that they must try to know the proper manner of using it and under which conditions.

To give you a clear picture on it, here is a very basic instance. Just try to consider this scenario, if a miner is hired to drill a tunnel through bedrock, it would be unproductive to use a bit that is designed to drill through sand or topsoil. Everything must conform under the proper condition.

Now, obviously the same analysis applies to bass fishing, remember that lures are intended to be used in certain situations and conditions. To throw jerk bait with three sets of treble hooks on to a mat of floating moss is the same as attempting to drill through granite with a sand bit. You have to use the proper tool for the conditions at hand.

Lure are used to catch fish but you must bear in mind that by simply throwing your lures in the water, it is already a guarantee that the fish will get near to you and take the lure as you wish. Bass Fishing needs a lot of considerations, such as the weather condition, the season, the type of body of water (be it natural lake, reservoir etc.). This is just the right time that you will determine where the fish can be found and the time when you can decide on the right lure to be used.

This may seem like a lot of thinking to do on a day of recreating. But of course, the more time you spend on the water, practicing these techniques starts to become second nature and you'll spend much less time organizing expensive lures that don't seem to work. This is already a big help for you anyway.

Remember that there is no substitute for experience, as the saying goes, and there is no opportunity better than fishing to prove that maxim true. So the next time you are in the tackle shop, stop for a minute and think about what you are doing, do not do things without even thinking about it.

Altimeter watches for skydiving

The instrument used to measure an aircraft’s altitude is an altimeter. It measures altitude above mean sea level (MSL).An altimeter estimates these measurements using static air pressure. The altimeter estimates altitude based on changes in atmospheric air pressure.

The estimated measurement is based on a system that sets standard atmospheric pressure and temperature. Altimeters are set in accordance with the international standard atmosphere (ISA).These international standards are used to calibrate the plain altimeter so that the pilot can estimate elevation.

The standard measurement is a starting point for calculating altitude. Due to varying temperatures around the world an international standard is inaccurate for measuring altitude. Aircraft altimeters are equipped with an adjustable setting dial. Pilots can adjust their altimeters to local settings for atmospheric pressure so that estimating altitude is more accurate. Many airports worldwide broadcast local atmospheric settings across the airwaves so that pilots can adjust to the conditions.

It is important for skydiving adventures that the altimeter is set in accordance with local atmospheric pressure. Variations in pressure can affect the estimation of altitude so it is important that altimeters are set to local conditions. This will ensure the jump takes place at the correct altitude. With adventure skydiving free fall time is at a maximum. timing is crucial. Altitude measurements must be as accurate as possible for increased safety.

Skydivers are advised to set their personal altimeters to local atmospheric conditions at ground level. This will ensure they have an accurate estimate of altitude during the jump. Altimeter settings are also important when it comes to air traffic control. This is where an internationally standardized altimeter reading is useful. If some planes are flying with their settings adjusted to local conditions while others are using ISA there is a greater risk of mid air collision. Many pilots use local ISA when flying at low altitude and international ISA at higher altitudes.

Choose to cruise

It might seem to you as if practically all your friends are going away on exotic vacations which involve cruises; it might seem to you that you can go on such vacations only in your dreams. Well, dreaming about going on a cruise may in reality be your first step towards taking one!

If your information about cruises is primarily from what your friends tell you, then you are most likely to think of them as extremely expensive and difficult to organize.

Cruise lines do have to dock at a port for stocking up on their supplies and for refueling. Should you be lucky enough to be living close to a shipping port, and then it's just a matter of having to drive up to the Liner to be able to go on a cruise. If this were not the case then you would of course have to spend some effort and money on getting there. However this in itself may not be a deciding factor in taking the cruise both from a monetary as well as organizational angle. The important factor is to identify which port of destination that you would like to sail to. The choices seem limitless ranging from Alaska and Norway to New Zealand, spanning all the oceans of the world and all the climates that you may want to experience.

The next step after deciding on your cruise destination is to decide on the season and time of your cruise. Although this may depend more on when you will get your holiday from work, it might be prudent to some research on the weather conditions in the port of destination during the time of your cruise, considering that the seasons are opposite in different parts of the world. You would surely not want to be caught unawares to face the dangers of sailing in icy waters.

The third choice that you have to make is the length of the cruise that you wish to take. Even though cruises are normally for four to twelve days, you can even take a short cruise taking up just a weekend, if you live close to a port.

Costing would probably be another important aspect to consider while planning a cruise. You can either go for an all-inclusive fare or go in for a cruise that offers luxuries like massages and beauty salon services as extras. This way you can decide whether you want to use such luxuries or not. The tariff for the cabin too is variable depending on the location and the amenities that go with it. Starting from ordinary cabins on the inside, which do not cost much, you have a wide variety right up to cabins with fabulous views of the water and cabins with balconies too.

Having got all this information, you are now ready to start making your cruise travel plans. If you are a member of AAA or some other similar organization, then you can just choose from one of their holiday packages. Otherwise you can surf the internet and get all the information that you need, in addition to listening to the boastful stories recounted by those who have just returned from a memorable cruise to make an informed choice and you are sure to enjoy your Cruise holiday.

Responses to expect when traveling in germany

Learning the German language has many advantages especially if you’re a foreigner taking a walk down German streets. There’s one fact that you need to realize too. Although learning the language could give you numerous praises and benefits, you have to be careful in using it as well.

Our nationalities differ from one country to the next. If there’s anything you’re accustomed to doing in you’re own country, think twice before you attempt in doing it in another nation. If you visit Germany or get into a conversation with a German speaking person, an important point you need to remember is the way how you carry a conversation.

Don’t ever forget that the German language has a distinction between formal and informal conversation. If you’re unsure how to respond to the German speaking person you’re talking to, better stick to the rules of the language. Another thing is that you may find easy to learn and remember the basics of the language (greetings, common phrases) but in any way, do not get confused with the response you’re going to get. You’re not in your own country anymore so expect changes from the people around.

Shopping in Germany can be exciting; what with your skill to talk to the sales person in German. But don’t get offended if German staff just doesn’t warm up to you; it’s not being rude or anything so just move on with your German adventures.

Also, remember that Germans appreciate it more if you can talk to them in their own language. Putting all your efforts and hard work in learning the language wouldn’t be as rewarding as when you start to put it to test with a native German speaker.

But if you think you can’t handle it any longer and you feel the need to express what you want to say in pure English, you can always turn to someone and say “Sprechen Sie Englisch?" (SHPREKH-en zee ENG-lish), which means "Do you speak English?" and you’ll surely get the response you need.

The benefits of using hdmi 1.3 cable

The HDMI 1.3 cable is the newest version of the multiple multimedia interface cable that can be used to connect a number of electronic devices into the same interface. Compared to past models of the cable, which have changed relatively little compared to their predecessors, the 1.3 version has an array of new features that makes it the most adaptable of the bunch. But just what are the real benefits of using the HDMI 1.3 cable compared to the others? You would be surprised, I’m sure, to learn of all the ways that this new version will expand your multimedia interface and make it easier for you to combine your electronics.

To understand how this HDMI cable is going to help you, let’s first talk about Digital Visual Interface (DVI). This is an uncompressed digital connection scheme that was actually originally developed for a network of personal computers. It was to be a low-cost, high-bandwidth digital connection between PCs and digital monitors, so that you could view your work on the best of television sets. Now it is the most widely used digital display interface in the computer industry. What does all this mean for your home theater system? Well, it means that you can include the DVI with it, especially by using DVI connections on projectors, monitors, and advanced DVD players, such as the new HD-DVD players.

HDMI cables come in when you want to hook up a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) system with that of a DVI. HDMI cables can carry video, audio, and inter-component operability commands (remote control signals) on one digital interface that has been built on the success of DVI. When a device is connected to an HDMI 1.3 cable, it gets all the video performance that DVI has to offer, up to and including 1080p.

Compared with your standard A/V interfaces, HDMI interfaces actually have a number of important advantages. The uncompressed format delivers digital HD video, multi-channel audio, and control signals between various HDMI and/or DVI components. By combining all this power into one cable, HDMI offers a convenient connection alternative to the maze of existing analog A/V cables that plague your home theater.

The HDMI 1.3 cable actually offers six distinct benefits to the HDMI world. The most obvious is the higher data transfer speed that it offers. It also supports a special format type known as Deep Color. This is the brand new color space used in video electronics. It can support 1.8 times as many colors as RGB (Red, green, blue color schemes), which helps it to show all the various colors found in nature. Incorporating automatic audio syncing capability is also a new feature for the HDMI 1.3 cable. This system will automatically adjust for the difference in electronic latency between the processing circuits of the sound and the image. This discrepancy usually comes up as a slight delay in sound and image correspondence, but it will be unnoticeable thanks to this new cable version.

In addition to all of this, the HDMI 1.3 supports the output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-FD Master Audio streams. These are the lossless audio codec formats used on HD DVDs and Blue-ray discs. The cable is only useful here if the DVD player can’t send information in an uncompressed format, though. The HDMI 1.3 can be used with a number of products, including the latest DVD players and the Playstation 3, which you may be interested to know, is the first product on the market that uses a HDMI 1.3 wire connection.

So if you’re looking for the best connectivity possible, look into purchasing the HDMI 1.3 cable. The benefits HDMI 1.3 provides your home theater wiring set-up can’t be beat, and you’ll soon find yourself able to transfer data like never before.

Is your low-carb diet aging your skin

Low-carb diets, while they may be effective in promoting quick weight loss, have been shown to increase inflammation in the body, according to researchers at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and University. Not only does this age your skin, but your internal cells and organs as well. The solution is the IF Rating™ system, which shows you the foods that are both low-carb and anti-inflammatory.

Obesity, wrinkles, heart disease, hay fever, depression…all of these different problems share a common factor: inflammation. Now thought to be at the root of today's most vexing health problems, chronic low-level inflammation is rooted in the foods you eat.

By reading the label, you can determine whether or not a food is high in carbohydrates, fats or sugars, but not whether it's an inflammatory food. In The Inflammation Free Diet Plan, nutrition researcher Monica Reinagel takes the confusion and guesswork out of reducing inflammation with her revolutionary IF Rating system, which reveals which foods are best for reducing inflammation and which may make it worse. Using over 20 different nutritional factors to calculate each food's rating, the IF Rating system helps you maximize both health and weight loss.

So do you choose the salmon or the steak? You'd probably be surprised at the answer. The IF Ratings reveal that one type of salmon may actually increase your risk of inflammation-driven aging and disease, while certain cuts of steak will reduce inflammation. This new information may change how you think about many common foods.

The Inflammation Free Diet Plan includes:

• IF Ratings for more than 1,600 common foods

• Tips to balance the effects of inflammatory foods with anti-inflammatory ones

• Three weeks of easy menus the whole family can enjoy

• An easy, flexible program you can follow for life

• More than 50 delicious anti-inflammatory recipes.

Perhaps the best part is that the plan works almost immediately. You'll notice that your skin looks younger, your joints feel better and your allergy symptoms improve within days after you start. You'll also be reducing your risk of heart disease, Alzheimer's disease and diabetes in the future!

7 easy ways to teach your children to be grateful for what they have

Here are some easy ways to incorporate instilling the virtue of gratitude in your children. As you go through your day, show them, the wonderful events going on behind the scenes that we all most usually take for granted.

1. Set the Right Example.

It is better if you teach them by using the appropriate words at the right times yourself. How many parents do you see saying "Thank You" to there two or three year old children. It is through example that kids learn best, and teaching gratitude is no different than anything else in that respect. "Children Learn What They Live!"

2. Teach It Through Role Playing.

You can play games with your children that implement the virtue of gratitude. Play the second chair and practice showing them how it feels to be on the receiving end of an unexpected, "Thank You!"

3. Teach by Showing Them How to Be of Service to Others.

Even simple things such as holding a door for an elderly person, are small ways we can show them how others appreciate us and our actions. It is also a way to put a smile and a lift into a strangers day, which always creates a good feeling within the person who is doing the kind act as well.

You would be surprised how many times a simple gesture like this can occur in your normal day activities, in places like grocery stores, doctors offices, or shopping trips.

4. Make a List.

An easy way to get them to make lists of what they are thankful for is to use "The Daily Gratitude Journal Software" You will find a link to this software in the resource box at the end of this article. There are two versions, one written in "kid language and displaying an output of "kid fonts" and an adult version as well.

5. Teach Gratitude While Going Without Things.

Recently my single family of three kids and myself had to deal with a full 24 hours of no power. This outage caused by a wind storm, was an ideal opportunity for me to teach them what we had to be thankful for that we normally took for granted. Simple things like, lights, heat, and being able to watch Tv, were just a few that quickly came to mind.

6. Show them How to Be Thankful for the Little Things in Life.

As in the previous example, although, most of us would not consider heat and light little things, they are things that are always there for our kids, so they are simple things that they usually don't pay much attention too.

Other simple examples could include; having food to eat all the time, friends to play with, and having plenty of toys and school supplies. Showing them examples of third world country children who go without these things is a way of teaching them appreciation for what they have, too.

7. Teach them to see the good in someone they don't like.

You can even use a negative experience to teach them the value of being grateful. When I think of this, immediately what comes to my mind is the Walt Disney movie, "PollyAnna" where she played the "Glad" game and found many things to be grateful for in every situation she encountered. Renting this video, watching and discussing it with them would be a great, gratitude building quality time family activity.

As you go through your day, show them, the wonderful events going on behind the scenes that we all most usually take for granted. Things like the police, who protect us, the firemen who are there for those who need them, and the clerk at the grocery store doing her job to help us get our food. Simple thank you comments to all of these daily activities is the easiest way to role model appreciation that they will learn and emulate.

How to choose suitable home theater seating

Do not be surprised when you head over to your friend's newly decked out home theater to discover that he has literally substituted lawn chairs (yes, the squeaking fold-out aluminum kind) for those plush leather home theater loungers you had been expecting.

When it comes to setting up a home theater, last on the list of required accessories is usually the seating. Let's face it, chairs are just too passive for their own good. High definition televisions, movie screens, the hi-fi surround sound setup that has been pain-stakingly wired and tested--these are the things that will deliver that highly-prized, streamed source of entertainment. They command great attention from prospective home theater owners. Only when the proud home theater builder discovers that those rows of custom seating won't actually be delivered for a couple of months does it occur to him that something might have been overlooked in his zeal to put together the perfect movie or sports viewing room.

Do not make the same mistake. Like every other facet of home theater design, your seating requirements will need to be carefully thought out beforehand, so that you can order the right loungers or movie seats well ahead of time. Actually, it will prove well worth the effort to give this element of your home theater some serious consideration. The reason for this is that, unlike the visual and auditory aspects of movie viewing, which benefit from the sheer scale of your local movie house, your home theater seating can easily exceed the quality of movie house seating, as well as provide, though Bass Shaker technology, sensory experiences that you just cannot get otherwise. Without a doubt, making the right choice in home theater seating has the potential to improve your movie viewing experience tremendously.

So what are your choices? The least expensive option is to go with movie seats. These are like the ones found in the movie house. They bolt to the floor, and have the advantage that the seat can be folded vertically when you are no longer using them. Generally these chairs consist of solid metal frames, and have leather or microfiber upholstery. If you are planning on building a home theater with more than a dozen seats, simple economics suggests you furnish with movie seats. They also take up less space than a bulky lounger would.

For smaller home theaters, which might seat a family-sized audience of, say, 5 or 6, the home theater lounger is the preferred choice. This is where you can pull out all the stops and really create something that impresses the hell out of your friends. Loungers are built for comfort. They are big, have thickly-padded cushioning, and usually have either a manually activated footrest and reclining action, or these features come at the push of a button in the motorized models. Like the movie seats, the loungers will have cup holders in the armrests, so that you can stash popcorn or drinks close at hand. Some reclining models are known as wall huggers, meaning that they can be placed just a couple of inches in front of a wall and still allow reclining without a problem (which they manage by stretching forward rather than back). This is particularly useful if you intend to build your home theater in a room where space is limited.

One significant advantage the home theater lounger has over the movie seat is that they can easily accommodate a tactile transducer, or Bass Shaker as they are more commonly known. When a Bass Shaker is attached to a lounger, the shaker pumps vibrational energy into the chair at just those moments in the movie that significant action is taking place. This result is that you "feel" the scene much same the way the characters in the movie would. The effect can add dramatically to the viewing experience. One reviewer of the technology remarked that when the Cyberdyne headquarters was blown up in Terminator 3, he thought his couch was about to explode. Clearly this is an aspect of the viewing experience that plain old home theater surround sound cannot provide. Many lounger models offer the option of a built-in Wireless Bass Shaker, which is attached internally to the wooden backboard and driven by an RF signal from your audio amplifier. If you cannot afford Bass Shakers for all your chairs, consider getting one or two. Your family members can rotate between movies. But be warned, they will be the most fought over seats in the house!

When you go shopping for a lounger, look for quality. The high end models will be constructed of hardwood frames, such as oak, maple, or alder, that have been kiln-dried. What this means is that the wood has been heat-treated to extract excess sap and moisture. This process also keeps the wood from absorbing more moisture in the future, so as to ensure that the frame will not warp with age. Quality loungers will also be padded with high-density foam. Look for a chair description mentions cushioning featuring 2 lb foam padding and hand-tied springs. If you cannot quite determine which is the right seating choice for you, try looking for customer reviews of home theater loungers and movie seats. If you think, for instance, that you might be interested in a Rodeo home theater lounger, try typing "review of rodeo home theater lounger" into your favorite search engine (and when you have purchased chairs, consider writing a review of your selected seating for the benefit of others--you can find a place to do this below).

An important point to consider before placing any order for home theater seating is whether you can get the chairs into your home. Get out the tape measure and start measuring doorway and hallway widths. Make sure you can receive your furnishings! It would be a good idea to allow at least 6 inches clearance, and preferably more, when planning the delivery route into your home. When you order a section of seating, with 3-5 chairs, say, you will have the option of getting a straight sectional, or you can join the chairs with a slightly wedged armrest, imparting a gentle curve the sectional. If you have not designed your home theater with curved sections in mind, you may be forced to go with straight joins.

Last but not least, keep an eye out for models of seating that offer fun designs. For example, if you are building a home theater so that you can watch your favorite sporting events with friends, look for chairs that have the logo of your favorite NCAA team embroidered into the backrests. It all adds to the excitement when the time comes to switch off the light and kick back for a couple of hours of sheer home theater enjoyment.

Jacquard ribbon

The Jacquard Ribbon dates all the way back to the early 1800's. This was during the Industrial Revolution when factories just started to arise. Before mechanical devices and weaving machines were invented, fabric was woven by hand which was a timely task. The new machines produced this fabric at an exceptionally faster rate, but it was only able to produce simple patterns, not the detailed ones that skilled workers could create.

Soon enough, the Jacquard Loom was created to solve this problem, which was an attachment to a loom, and it allowed the machine to create very intricate designs just as fast as any other simple pattern or design. Many people lost their jobs because the Jaquard Ribbon no longer needed to be manually produced. The process is quite complicated, it can be compared to that of a pasteboard card.

Each hole has a different action, so basically, one could alter the loom's actions to create whatever design they were trying to produce. Not only did this spark the development of intricate designs in ribbon, it spread to many other industries. The idea of the pasteboard card, or punch card concept, many other developers followed it and were able to successfully put it to use.

The definition of a Jacquard is a pattern that has either been knitted or woven in an exquisite manner. The punch card has lots of versatility, a great designer, and high fabric control similar to a piano. The word itself comes from a French inventor by the name of Joseph Marie Jacquard. He was the designer and invented the loom in 1801, which is where the name "Jacquard" comes from. Jacquard is not just one fabric, there are also several other Jacquard fabrics.

Joseph Marie Jacquard realized in his time that weaving was a very delicate and repetitive task. This was when he developed his very complicated add-on to the loom, which has become a large part of history as it stands today. His invention was first recognized in Paris at an industrial exhibition.

For the next few years he continued to improve the loom, and eventually in 1804 it went public and he got a patent for his design. Unforunately, the French government took over the design and decided to name the loom as public property. This left Jacquard with very little reward, only receiving a tiny royalty and pension.

The uprise of the loom attachment created an uproar to many laborers in the weaving industry. They feared that this new device would take them away from their jobs and income. But, because the attachment was so successful, people began to accept a new beginning. Joseph Marie Jacquard died on August 7th, 1834.

There is what now seems like an endless amount of patterns and designs that Jacquard Ribbon has. It has become a huge asset to many hobbies such as scrap booking, wrapping presents, and more. The quality and appearance of this ribbon make it standout when compared to other plain and dull ribbons.

Joseph Marie Jacquard proved to be a very successful person and his invention has definitely made an impact on the world today, not just for the textile industry, but his influence on the other industries that used his idea as well.

Help stop snoring limiting eating before bedtime

It’s getting to close to bedtime and your stomach is looking for a late night snack. You go to the kitchen and decide on a nice thick slice of chocolate cake. After brushing your teeth you tuck yourself into bed and within hours you feel the familiar hand of your spouse trying to wake you up so you’ll stop snoring.

Snoring is a problem that almost everyone has had to deal with at some point. Whether it was a parent who snored, a partner or their own snoring problem, it changed not only their sleep patterns but their stress level as well. If we don’t get a good night’s rest we can end up irritated, frustrated and angry with the person who snores, even if logically it seems that there is nothing they can do about it.

There might be something that can easily change the situation and help them to stop snoring. The solution might be found in their menu. The foods we eat can have a direct impact on whether or not we snore.

Eating right before you retire for the night gives your body less of a chance to digest the food. This can result in the food sitting within your stomach and depending on the size of the snack or the meal it can also cause you to feel pressure on your diaphragm. It is that pressure that can result in snoring.

Adjusting your meal time might help improve the snoring. If you are accustomed to eating dinner later in the evening at eight or nine o’clock, it might be wise to move that ahead several hours so that by the time you do hit the hay, the food will have been digested and it won’t result in a restless sleep that is filled with the sounds of snoring.

Experimenting a bit with eating times is wise in this case. It might be as simple as an hour difference in time that results in you snoring or not. That is a small change that can have a big result in not only your sleep but in the sleep of those who have listened to you snore night after night.

Snacks are often a regular routine of night time television viewing. Eating potato chips, popcorn or pretzels is a great way to add flavor to an evening of sports or movies. Choosing a different snack might help you to have a sounder sleep though. Some research suggests that honey has a positive effect on the airways and can help stop snoring. Eating an apple dipped in honey or having a cup of warm tea with honey will not only help with stopping the snoring but it won’t place such a heavy burden on your digestive system at the end of the day.

Overall the main points to remember when eating to avoid snoring are:

* Avoid eating late in the day.

* Avoid eating snacks that contain too many calories

* Avoid snacks that take a long time to digest.

Looking carefully at your diet and your dietary habits might result in not only a healthier eating pattern but also may help with a snoring problem. Simply adjusting what you eat and when you eat it could stop your snoring completely.

Nursing degree health of the future

It is far from a hidden truth that there is a shortage of nurses in the United States. Hospitals, doctors and nursing homes have been clinging to dear life for years in the attempts to find and keep a good group of nurses. With the shortages in the profession, the pay rate has climbed to far exceed expectations and this leaves nurses with many options. For the nurse this is an excellent opportunity, but for the providers it can prove costly. If you are on the fringe of making a decision between a nursing degree and some other here are some things to consider.

The American Association of College Nursing estimates that there will be a shortage of over 300,000 nurses by the year 2012. That could not only create a hazard to the medical industry, but also provide nurses with an excellent paying career. Nursing is one of those careers that not only provides good pay, but also gives the individual the greatest reward ever. This reward can be seen on a daily basis with the fact that they help those in need and it is the thanks in the eyes of a child that sustains the career choice.

There are several options that nurses have afforded to them. There are different certifications in nursing and with them brings different duties as well as pay. Another positive about the nursing profession is the fact that there are so many options. One nurse may work in Pediatrics and another can work in Geriatrics. There is no limit to the opportunities in the nursing field. Here is a look at the types of certifications and a little bit about each.

LVN/LPN:

A year's worth of college training and a set amount of experience can help you obtain the certification of either LVN/Licensed Vocational Nurse or LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse. While completing the required academic requirements the nursing student will spend time shadowing nurses, doctors and other health care providers for hands on and/or practical experience. After all the requirements have been fulfilled the nursing student will be expect to take the state exam, which is not easy. It is recommended that students purchase a good study guide or course to refresh and prepare for the test. A LPN or LVN can expect to make an average of $37,000 per year. LVN or LPN can be responsible for administering medications, giving injections, drawing blood and/or starting IV's as well as a host of other medical duties.

RN:

The RN or registered nurse is gained by attending college for two to three years and passing the state's respective exam. The test consists of educational material as well as practical information, making it necessary to study for the exam. The major shortage in nursing comes with the licensure of the registered nurse. The RN certification opens many doors and opportunities to those wanting to pursue a career in the medical profession. In most cases the Registered Nurse oversees other medical tech., interns, LPN (LVN) and Certified Nurses Aids. The average salary reported on the Internet for a RN is in the range of $55,000 per year. RN's can work in private practice, doctor's offices, hospitals, traveling situations as well as other medical options.

BSN:

The BSN or Bachelors of Science in Nursing can be obtained after a nurse completes a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Many universities are now offering an online option or correspondence classes for nurses to achieve the higher level of education. The RN may wish to return to school to enhance his/her skill and salary level. This transition may not be obvious to a patient by sight, but the experience and knowledge could be a tale-tale sign. A BSN also looks better on paper and hospitals, doctors, nursing homes will ring your telephone off the wall. Generally, the BSN works in a managerial position reviewing case files, dealing with administrators and advocating for patients, but can hold a variety of other nursing positions. The Internet reports the average salary for a BSN at well over $60,000 per year.

Regardless of the nursing path that is chosen, it is extremely important to prepare. While in school take good notes, keep textbooks and other information obtained during the educational experience. Pay close attention in the practical training provided in the hospital or with other medical professionals. The state exam that you will be taking to obtain your license must be taken seriously. There are a variety of great preparatory study guides that will help prepare you for your big day. It is also recommended and advisable to obtain the furthest degree in nursing possible. The more education and letters behind your name the more opportunity that you will have. Nursing is one of those fields that no matter where you go or live there is always a job waiting for you.

If the predictions of the American Association of College Nursing is correct and there is truly that big of a shortage in the future, the pay rates for nurses could double, even triple. The pay scale is already exceptionally good, but imagine what will happen when the nurses of today are retiring. The pay rate will rise and since you have the education and experience, you will be in high demand.
