Learning to control your swing to improve your golf handicap

The most difficult thing about learning golf is to learn to distract your mind from everything except the feeling of what you are about to perform.

Now no teacher can tell you in exact words how it feels when you make a certain movement correctly. You will have to use your imagination to interpret what he says, and if he is wise he will encourage you to use it.

Let me give you an example. I want to teach you to pivot from the hips. Now I can show you how it is done and issue the usual mass of detailed instruction, but that does not call up your imagination and it gives you no conception of how it feels to pivot correctly.

From the shoulders our power travels down through the arms, and as to arm action also I believe the common conception to be erroneous. Most people think they lift their arms to get them to the top of the back swing. With a modern controlled swing they do not lift them . . . the arms work absolutely subjectively to the shoulders, that is why they are controlled.

So far so good; we can learn to feel the body turn to the right and round to the left, beautifully fixed in space by the hips. Now carry the image a stage further: first, as you pivot sink down from the knees—you will feel that if you sink down, even ever so little, you will become stuck in the barrel. This will not do, so you must feel that you keep your hips up on a level with the top of the barrel. Do this and you will develop the feel of keeping your hips up as you pivot—a thing which unfortunately for our golf very few of us do.

Now do not think that we use imagination in teaching golf in order to evolve new theories. Oh no—there are too many theories already! What we use imagination for is to translate theory into feeling, and to keep our minds awake and our circle of golfing sensations expanding. Every new golfing sensation (if it is to be deliberately induced and not left to happen by accident) may need an introduction through the imagination in this way—but once the image has done its work of introduction it can be put on one side and the feel that it has made known can be relied on. But put your images on one side—do not abandon them, because if you do lose the feel, the image through which you learned it will bring it back.

Now the golf swing is a connected series of sensations or feels and when you get all these feels right and rightly connected you will swing perfectly. I have just given you the feel of the pivot—the movement on which the modern swing is based.

Now to that one basic feel, the pivot, we will add other feels, and every new feel gives you a new control until your whole game is controlled and you can play it as you will. But do not think you cannot play until you have this whole series of controls established. Lots of players go through their golfing lives and get a lot of fun out of the game without building up any controls at all! But the more controls you can build up and link together, the better for your game, the finer the conception of the swing you will evolve.

Let us get back to the visualizing of our swing. We have laid our foundation by getting the feel of the pivot from the hips. This movement goes up through the body to the next control point—the shoulders. And here I believe that wrong imagination does a great deal of damage to many people's swings.

We think that in the fine swing we see the left shoulder come down as we come back and the right shoulder come down as we come forward; so we feel that this shoulder movement is right and tend to encourage it — to the detriment of our swings because it is wrong. And I say it is wrong, cheerfully certain that it is wrong in spite of its almost universal acceptance. How much the shoulders actually dip depends upon how erect we stand when addressing the ball. We should stand as erect as possible and I contend that we should not feel our shoulders go down but should feel that we are keeping them fully up.

As we address the ball we look at it a little sideways — we peep at it. The head is fixed (because you "keep your eye on the ball), and the movement of the shoulders is not an independent movement of the shoulders at all, but is due to the shoulders being moved around from the pivot.

We can only keep the shoulder movement in a fixed groove and make it repeatable time after time, by keeping the shoulders at the limit of upness in whatever position the turn from the hips may have placed them. Any excess of upness (that is, actual shoulder lift) will result in the ball being lost sight of. In short, the fixed head determines the limit of lift and dip of the shoulders.

You will see that this is why you must feel you keep the shoulders up to the same degree with, say, a driver and a full swing and a mashie niblick (a more upright club) and a half swing. The closer you stand to your ball the more upright the swing and the more directly downward your sight of the ball . . . also, the less extensive the swing you can make without losing sight of the ball.

Now try this conception of the shoulder action without a club, and link it to your feel of the pivot from the hips. Feel how the two become connected. This is the first connection in our building up of a controlled swing—and a very important one. You cannot take too much trouble in understanding it and building it up.

So, instead of explaining all the mechanical and anatomical details of the pivot to you, I show you how to pivot and then tell you to do it yourself imagining that you are standing in a barrel hip high and big enough to be just free of each hip but a close enough fit to allow no movement except the pivot. At once you get the feeling of the pivot. Incidentally nine out of ten golfers would improve their games if they would use this image to the fullest degree in practice.

Golf instruction on a budget

It must be nice to drive around in a little golf cart and play the perfect game on a perfect green. Golfers everywhere are envying you as we speak. What's that? You aren't driving around in a cute little cart or playing a perfect game? And no one is envious of your supremely skilled game? One would assume that means Tiger Woods isn't on hold on line 2 then. Odds are good that Tiger is never going to be eagerly awaiting your call, but that doesn't mean that with effective golf instruction you can't be the envy of the green.

Let's face it; most of us can't afford private lessons with a pro or even with the local country club's golf instructor. Knowing where to look and what to look for go a long way in finding help with golf instruction however. It doesn't matter if you play on the finest golf courses in the world or join up with your buddies occasionally for a round on the local public course. In this era of high speed information the tips, hints, and techniques used by golf pros can be at your fingertips.

Finding advice on golf instruction is simple really. Books and magazines are printed by the hundreds on this very subject. Either one would be an excellent addition to your birthday or Christmas wish list. It is a good bet that your significant other would be delighted with an original gift idea and at the same time give themselves the gift of not hearing you lament your golf game anymore. Check out the library for a selection of books that highlight every different aspect of the game of golf. This technique will save you bundles on your bill at the local bookstore. Another way the library can be useful in finding golf instruction is in their DVD department. Check out the ones that seem interesting. The DVDs you find especially helpful can always be purchased later. When your golf skills dramatically improve all your friends will think you spent a mint on private lessons. They'll be so jealous.

While talking about acquiring golf instruction on a budget, don't underestimate the usefulness of friends and family. If golf is a family passion, maybe Mom or Dad has some helpful hints that you overlooked. And the friend you are always trying to impress with your game may be the perfect instructor. You can always sway him by stating the obvious, if he helps you, just maybe he will at least have a little competition the next time the two of you hit the greens together. That should be enough to encourage some cooperation.

The information highway is the place to go for information on all kinds of subjects. You already pay for your Internet connection, make it earn its keep. There are countless websites and forums dedicated to the game of golf and many of them offer tips on a wide variety of golfing issues. For example, you can learn the best clubs to use for each shot and how to factor weather conditions into your game. This is seriously some useful golf instruction. Your budget will love you because you are using a resource that is already paid for.

When most people think about golf instruction it is rarely associated with inexpensive. Considering that golf course time, the equipment, and golfing extras tend to cost so much, budget golf instruction is the way to go. Who knows? Before long maybe Tiger will be calling, or maybe not. Either way you will be playing better and the kids can still go to college.

History of the samurai and bodyguard training that became jujutsu

Unarmed fighting forms have be a part of Japanese culture for many centuries. Unarmed combat is mentioned in the earliest Japanese historical records. The Japanese fighting systems we know today have their origins found in ancient Japanese battlefield combat systems. The fighting styles that fall under the general name Sengoku Jujutsu were originally not for unarmed combat as much as they were to help a lightly armored warrior defeat a heavily armed warrior. The heavily armed attacker would generally not be prepared to defend against unarmed techniques. Jujitsu training includes learning striking, body throws, sweeps, joint-locks, off-balance throws, pinning, grappling, wrestling, strangulating holds, submission holds, and even weapon skills such as with the tanto. Jujitsu training also includes defensive strategies such as evasion, blocking, blending, escaping, and maintaining balance.

During the Edo period is when the Jujitsu that we recognize today started to come into being. The Nihon Jujutsu of today is a child of Edo Jujutsu, which was less battlefield oriented and focused on dealing with unarmored opponents. One of the primary differences is the addition use of striking vital targets. This would not be of much use against an armored opponent, but it is very powerful when used against an enemy in civilian or street clothes.

One aspect of the original forms of Jujitsu training that is no longer seen much is the use of a cord to restrain or choke an attacker. While these techniques are not as relevant with today's weapons, Tokyo police still carry a hojo cord and train with it regularly.

Truly modern Jujutsu was founded towards the end of the Tokegawa period around the year 1850. Around this time many Jujutsu schools sprung up which stressed Jujitsu training based on the Edo Jujustsu system rather than the Sengoku Jujutsu system as battlefield confrontation was no longer very relevant.

Modern Jujutsu is employed by law enforcement and military all around the world. It is a very effective way to restrain an attacker without using lethal force. If an opponent is not trained in Jujutsu, it is very hard for them to defend against Jujutsu's attacks and control maneuvers. Modern Jujutsu is also very popular in the mixed martial arts sport of today, and there are also many Jujutsu specific competitions.

One of the reasons Jujutsu is so effective is that it specializes in reacting to any given situation. You do not just run striking drills and hope an opponent cannot defend against your combinations. Jujutsu allows the student to stay effective no matter where the fight goes. If the fight goes to the ground, the Jujutsu student is prepared. Jujutsu allows the student to keep control over the fight and impose his strategy upon the opponent no matter what they try to do.

How to burn stomach fat

The stomach is one of the most difficult areas of the body to lose fat from. While it seems as though other parts respond well to diet and exercise, the stomach is reluctant to change, and there doesn’t seem to be one effective way of losing fat there without taking it off elsewhere too. There is a lot of conflicting advice about how to loose your beer belly, from extra crunches in the gym that most people agree don’t work, to special fat-burning pills which are mocked by the scientists.

Most people will tell you that there is no certain way of losing fat from just your stomach. If you want to lose weight, they will tell you, you will need to reduce the fat from all over your body; you can’t pick and choose where the body takes its fat reserves from. They may recommend a very strict fat-free diet which can backfire, since the body’s first reaction to starvation conditions is to keep what little fat it has. In effect, you will achieve the opposite of what you want. An ideal low-fat diet should have around 55% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and only 15% fat.

Gym fanatics will probably confirm that there is very little you can do to make sure the fat you lose is taken from your waistline. They may show you a few tricks, such as the extra-special crunches that are supposed to target your abs, to the recommended method by a former Mr Universe. Some of these exercises can be useful, but they are not as good as effective diet, which will benefit the whole body. You should also beware of the latest ‘ab crunching’ machine; the amount of use these devices get rarely pays for their cost. Most of them are useless, and since they don’t take fat directly off the abs, you will have splendid muscles but you won’t be able to see them under the excess lard.

Just as useless are diet pills, though these are much more dangerous than any exercise machine fad. Many fat-reduction pills have been withdrawn by doctors, as they have been proven to affect health. Also, messing with your body’s metabolism in this way can mean that you

The problem will all of these devices is that there is no proven way to select the part of the body where fat will be taken from. When you burn fat, you burn energy, and this is taken from everywhere. A careful diet is, of course, essential when you are trying to lose weight, as is regular exercise; however, in order to lose the most from your waistline, you should be doing more cardiovascular, or aerobic, exercise. Most people do not do enough of this kind of workout, often stopping after half an hour. For the first 20 or so minutes, the body is not burning fat, but glycogen (carbohydrates), and only after this time does it start to burn fat. So with aerobic exercise, the key to burning stomach fat is to work out for as much as an hour continuously. You should be doing this at least 3 to 4 times a week.

As well as aerobic exercise, you should give some time to resistance exercises. This is of course, working out with weights, which many people find very daunting. On the one hand, weight training exercise will slow down the number of pounds you lose per week (as it increases muscle mass), but you will be loosing fat. Also, resistance training is generally beneficial to your health, and a complete weight-loss program will include aerobic and resistance exercises, as well as a low-fat diet.

X-treme scooters are you ready to play

No one wants plain electric scooters anymore. They are not looking for your gas scooter of old. What everyone is talking about are the X-Treme Scooters. Scooters don’t look like you’re grandpas anymore. Today electric scooters are standing up and taking notice. Some scooters, like the X-Treme x-560 are designed to look more like their high-end street bikes.

Your gas scooter that your dad used to mount on an old bike frame has made leaps and bounds over the ages. The gas scooter of today is one of the hottest transportation vehicles out there. The X-Treme XG-550 is a good example. With a 50cc motor, dual front shock system, and the ability to fold down with ease, make this a commuters choice.

Every where you look, you see young and old riding their gas scooter or electric scooters. X-Treme Scooters are versatile, quick and can go the distance.

With growing popularity, X-Treme Scooters is filling that need.

1. X-Treme scooters are versatile: Being versatile means being able to take your scooter just about anywhere. Electric scooters now-a-days have the option to fold down for easy transport or storage. Your granddads couldn’t do that. A foldable gas scooter or foldable electric scooters are popular among college students, mariners and campers to name a few.

2. Today’s X-Treme Scooters are quick: All X-Treme Scooters are quick for their assigned task. X-Treme Scooters are used for racing, doing tricks, and every day transportation. It is important to note that the speed you get with your x-treme scooter is dependant on such variables as

a. Maintenance: The condition and charge if electric, of the scooter – always check tire pressure, oil/grease chain. If gas scooter, clean air filter, wipe plug and make sure gas tank has no debris buildup.

Other Important factors Include:

b. The weight that the scooter is carrying.

c. The terrain that the scooter is going over.

3. How far can X-Treme Scooters Go? That really depends on the output and type. But that is not all. For electric scooters, you need to go a little deeper than just the description.

a. Watts does not always equal power: When you see an electric scooter and it says 250,350,500 and some boast 750 up 1000 watt motors, how can you really be sure you’re getting what you paid for? Every electric scooter motor has a plate on it for identification. On the plate is the actual output rating for that motor. I have seen 500 watt scooters listed as 750 and 1000 watt. Be careful.

b. Voltage does not always equal power: If you have the wattage, you need the batteries to support the wattage. In the old days, everything was either an 8 volt or a single 12 volt system. Over the years, x-treme scooters have evolved into 24, 36 and 48 volt systems. Traditional electric scooters these days will have either 12 or 24 volt systems. When you see a 36 volt system that will give you a minute increase in power, but the real advantage is distance and torque. The more voltage, the longer your scooter will run and the more weight your scooter will be able to carry.

Whether you want to do tricks, race, be in the X-Games or are looking for a less expensive way to work, today’s X-Treme Scooters will get you farther, faster, higher than ever before. Don’t be stuck in the past, move forward and enjoy life to the fullest. Get your X-Treme Scooter and start living. Times are changing and the next thing on the horizon is the “WAVE”. Will you be left behind?

Do you know these swimming pool heater basics

As anyone who's ever jumped into a frigid pool knows, a swimming pool heater is a handy gadget to have, especially for those cooler days and nights that hit every summer. People living in cooler climates usually like to extend their swimming days past Labor Day, and a heater makes it possible to enjoy that last bit of summertime fun before the leaves start turning.

Swimming pool heaters are generally offered with electric capabilities or, for more rural areas, propane or natural gas. In addition to the traditional heater, people today also have a choice of purchasing a heating pump as well as utilizing solar power through the use of a solar heating system, which is an energy efficient and environmentally friendly way of keeping that pool water warm during at least three out of four seasons a year.

In most cases the size and horsepower of a swimming pool heater will depend on the size of your swimming pool, or gallon capacity, and the temperature of your climate. It will take less energy and horsepower to heat a swimming pool on a cool Arizona night that it would in Minnesota.

In addition, whether your pool is above ground or in ground will also make a big difference. Most heaters come with an adjustable thermostat, which makes maintaining a constant temperature not only comfortable, but also energy efficient as well.

Most swimming pool heater options range in the 80-85% efficiency rating system, but some brands reach as high as a 95% rating. Try to avoid heaters that rate less than 83% or you'll be spending more than an arm and a leg on your electric bills. Also, check the BTU's that a swimming pool heater rates.

A BTU is the amount of energy that is needed to heat water by one degree, and most heating units offer between 75,000 and 400,000 BTU units. While the higher number will heat your pool in less time, they also cost more, so individual buyers will have to determine their savings quotient to determine which model will best suit their needs and utility budgets.

Heating pumps are also an option when comes to swimming pool heater choices. While original cost outlay is high, they utilize outside air to help warm water, so if you live in a warmer climate, this might be an option to look in to. Solar heating panels are also growing more popular among swimming pool owners around the United States.

Solar panels collect and store energy absorbed from the sun and can be used year round in sunny climates like Florida and California, as well as desert areas. Keep in mind however, that their use is based on weather patterns, so while they may be efficient most of the year, the winter months may prove frustrating.

Of all forms of swimming pool heater choices, the electric heaters are considered to be most energy efficient, though propane heaters come in at a close second. Price ranges for above ground pool heaters usually start at around $600, while those for in ground swimming pools run around $1,000.

No matter which type you're thinking of purchasing, do your homework, shop around and make sure you know your options. Before you even start shopping for a swimming pool heater, know your basics.

Altimeter watches for skydiving

The instrument used to measure an aircraft’s altitude is an altimeter. It measures altitude above mean sea level (MSL).An altimeter estimates these measurements using static air pressure. The altimeter estimates altitude based on changes in atmospheric air pressure.

The estimated measurement is based on a system that sets standard atmospheric pressure and temperature. Altimeters are set in accordance with the international standard atmosphere (ISA).These international standards are used to calibrate the plain altimeter so that the pilot can estimate elevation.

The standard measurement is a starting point for calculating altitude. Due to varying temperatures around the world an international standard is inaccurate for measuring altitude. Aircraft altimeters are equipped with an adjustable setting dial. Pilots can adjust their altimeters to local settings for atmospheric pressure so that estimating altitude is more accurate. Many airports worldwide broadcast local atmospheric settings across the airwaves so that pilots can adjust to the conditions.

It is important for skydiving adventures that the altimeter is set in accordance with local atmospheric pressure. Variations in pressure can affect the estimation of altitude so it is important that altimeters are set to local conditions. This will ensure the jump takes place at the correct altitude. With adventure skydiving free fall time is at a maximum. timing is crucial. Altitude measurements must be as accurate as possible for increased safety.

Skydivers are advised to set their personal altimeters to local atmospheric conditions at ground level. This will ensure they have an accurate estimate of altitude during the jump. Altimeter settings are also important when it comes to air traffic control. This is where an internationally standardized altimeter reading is useful. If some planes are flying with their settings adjusted to local conditions while others are using ISA there is a greater risk of mid air collision. Many pilots use local ISA when flying at low altitude and international ISA at higher altitudes.

Betfair race trading pt 4. laying backing and dutching. pots of gold or pots of pain

Laying:

A lot of new customers to Betfair are attracted by the prospect of a new style of bet; namely, “Laying”, which is being allowed to back the loser of your chosen sport or event.

In relation to horse racing, this is known as “Laying” a horse i. e. Backing it to lose the race.

Laying a horse to lose is effectively the direct opposite of backing it to win.

It has actually always been possible to do this via a traditional bookmakers by backing every horse in the race to win using a “Dutching” mechanism, except of course the horse that you want to lose.

The result being, that whichever horse wins the race, as long as it is not the one you chose as the one you want to lose, you will make a set amount of profit.

To do this in a real life situation in a bookmakers as the horses are at the post, you have to be a mathematical savant or some other form of genius, and you may also get a rather strange look from the staff at Ladbrokes.

The Betfair computers take all the aggro out of “Laying” your selection. They do all the math and present you with a single decimal odd for laying your selection.

Laying horses can be attractive and profitable to seasoned professionals who attend race meets and can visibly see a horse directly before a race.

Satellite Information Services are available for those with an enormous budget, but even so, they may not focus directly on the horse you are interested in so may not give you any real clues pre race.

Let me explain the problem with “Laying” using an analogy.

You have a favourite at 3/1 in your Maiden Handicap at Chepstow, the field is large, 12 riders and there are 3 or 4 strong contenders in this race all bunched at around 4’s and 5’s

This is a terrible race to try and lay select and I will explain why.

The professional lay punter will go to the paddock 15 minutes before the race just as the horses are going down and will see that the favourite in this race is in fact very nervy, the eyes are jumping, the sweat has turned into white foam, the head is down and he refuses to canter or gallop.

Meanwhile the other 3 contenders are lightly sweating with a glossy shiny coat and bright steady eyes. They are cantering and galloping around with their heads and ears pricked up.

A professional punter now has about 2 minutes to phone Betfair or use his wireless laptop and get a large lay on the “out-of-sorts” favourite before the hobby punters, the on course bookies and TV cameras catch on, and the price on this horse starts drifting, first with the on course bookies, then Betfair and then the internet bookies.

This is what you are up against trying to outwit the professionals, the bookies, the market and Betfair. It can be done, but please heed my words of caution.

Without seeing the runners and riders before this race, it would be impossible to say with any certainty which of the major contenders is going to win and which will lose, and the main problem with laying is the enormous cost of paying for the rest of the field should your lay selection go on to win.

Always remember the comparison with Dutching in that you are betting on every other horse in the race to win with wagers that return an equal amount whichever horse wins.

In other words, should the horse you left out of the Dutch win you have to pay for every other horse in the race.

Also and this is a very serious point that many punters laying on Betfair are totally missing.

Betfair vaunts much of its success on its ability to provide punters with better odds than they will get to “Back” events with traditional bookmakers, and this they invariably achieve.

But as I have discussed in article 3, due to the higher back prices and the market “Spread” the lay prices are in fact far worse than what you would get if a traditional bookies offered the option to lay horses.

To back this up lets examine the fiscals:

Let’s say, the favourite in our maiden at Chepstow is at 3/1 on course. Betfair uses decimal odds to facilitate the Stock Market style trading and hedging that helps make it so popular. To get the decimal odds add 1 and then 0.5 (for the favourite).

The odds are better on Betfair as the bookies cannot factor their “cut” or “over round” into the odds. The prices do reflect the Bookmakers prices, but are more lenient as we are betting against other punters, not the bookies.

Betfair just takes a 5% commission from winnings and this percentage actually diminishes the more bets you place.

So the favourite will be at around 4.5 to back on Betfair in this example.

However to “Lay” the horse there is what is known as a “spread” in Stock Market terminology.

The difference between buying and selling a share equates to the difference between backing and laying a horse as detailed in Part 3 of this series.

It is always more expensive to lay a horse than to back it, this has to be otherwise the book would not add up. So the lay price of a favourite at traditional 3/1 will be around 4.7 decimal.

If you lay this horse to lose for Ј1 at 4.7 and it does lose, you stand to make Ј1 minus Betfair commission of 5% so you get your Ј1 stake back and a profit of 95p. All very good.

However, if perchance the contenders do not perform, your horse suddenly wakes up and goes on to win, then you have to pay for every other horse in the race that lost. So your loss would be your Ј1 stake * 4.7 = Ј4.70

So let us examine this data from another perspective; it can be said that you are going to need 5 of the above type of lays to make enough profit to pay for 1 race where the horse you laid goes on to win i. e. a losing bet.

And, this example is laying the favourite at the lowest odds of all the horses in the race.

Just to hammer the nails into the coffin of your “Lay” strategy, look at the “Fate of the favourites” as detailed by Adrian Masseys’ excellent free resource which records and analyzes the results of UK horse racing over the last 15 years. AdrianMassey. com.

It can be seen that across all flat races 33% of favourites go on to win their races with the figure for flat handicaps at 25% Favourites win their races in 38% of National Hunt races with the figure for Handicap hurdles at 30%.

Averaging these figures we could say that approximately 1 in 3 races are won by favourites. Yet we would need to lay 5 favourites to lose at 3/1 to make a profit.

Are you that good at spotting weak favourites??

This is the reality of laying horses on the betting exchanges.

You are ticking along nicely……bam! Just one predicted loser wins and you are back to square one.

And I can tell you it is more than just deeply irritating.

This is one area of using Betfair that is usually passed over in the “Pot of Gold” manuals.

The amount of mental energy and anxiety that you can expend on the Betting Exchanges is astonishing and really is something that should be factored in by anyone thinking about using Betfair to make serious money.

Picking horses to win or lose is mentally draining.

The research, the study, the angst, the mental debate and arithmetic required to pick a horse to win or lose with any degree of certainty, and follow it through the stalls round the course and through to the finish will leave many punters thoroughly drained after a few races, and then to see it all thrown away on the last race of the day can be utterly soul destroying.

Obviously the same scenario with a final race victory will be thoroughly satisfying. But in either scenario DO NOT underestimate the amount of mental work, anxiety and stress involved in making a living from Betfair.

In Part 5 I will talk more about “Laying, Backing and Dutching” horses and will reveal some more excellent resources which will help you on your way to Betting Exchange success.

Led headlamps make hiking and camping easier

If you are still using a hand held torch for your lighting needs after dark, then you are missing out on a wonderful tool that could help you immensely in any after-dark task. No matter what great quality hand held flashlight you have, it cannot compare to the comfort and convenience of an LED headlamp. Even LED flashlights, while they are comparable in power and quality, are less convenient than the hands-free and hassle-free LED headlamps.

There is no task too big or too small for an LED head lamp to tackle, from working underneath your car or underneath your house to exploring caves, camping, and even performing rescue work at night when you certainly want both hands to be as free as possible. These lights leave your hands free for other important tasks, and the fact that you are not carrying them makes them almost drop-proof.

LED headlamps are superior to most other kinds of headlamp because of the high quality LED bulbs that they utilize. These bulbs burn brighter than traditional incandescent bulbs, putting out a brighter, whiter light. They also use less power, which means that the LED bulb will go through fewer batteries and work better and longer to give you the light that you need for many, many hours at a time.

Another great feature of LED bulbs is that they last much longer than incandescent bulbs, so once you get your headlamp going and fresh batteries installed, you can count on hundreds of hours of use time from your bulb. This is far better than worrying about whether your incandescent bulb might survive the next trip since it is almost impossible to carry a spare when you are going to be out in the wild.

A good LED head lamp will have fully adjustable straps to help you get the comfortable fit that you need to feel confident in your light. Your LED head lamp should fit you well and be able to remain in place no matter what activities you are taking part in, and should be able to utilize the hinged adjuster to put the light in just the right place for you. You will never have to worry about sparing a hand to aim a bulky flashlight again!

You shouldn’t forget that the quality of light that comes from an LED headlamp is far superior as well. The light that comes out of a good LED headlamp will be bright white, and can be seen in some cases for up to 3,000 yards. Don’t worry too much about blinding your entire party, though. An LED headlamp should also come with a dimmer switch to get your light at just the right level for whatever location and activity you find yourself participating in.

LED headlamps are perfect for camping because they leave your hands free for campsite chores. They are great for working in small spaces, great for emergencies, and full of uses for you to discover if you put your mind to it.

Origins of the pool game

Nobody really knows the origins of billiards. The common belief is that the game originated as a game that was played outdoors which was a bit different from croquet that was played early in the 14th century in France. Its said it became quite popular and when the cold weather did not allow the game to be enjoyed outside, it moved indoors and was played on a table that was covered with green felt.

Do you know that when Mary, Queen of Scots, died, she was wrapped in a billiard cloth? Did you also know that pool was the first sport to have a world championship game in 1873? Interesting huh

There are well know historical figures that loved the billiard game. These include King Louise X1V and wife Marie Antoinette, Mozart, Abe Lincoln, Napoleon and George Washington among others.

Back then, billiard balls were made from ivory and were usually carved out from the center of an elephant’s tusk. The elephant tusks could only give you three to 4 billiard balls.

The pool game is said to have the highest average age among its players at about 35 yrs and also said to be one of the safest game in the world

“Billiard” was coined from the French word “billart” that means mace. The mace was a stick with a handle that started to be used with the game called croquet.

It was illegal

In its earliest history, the pool game was outlawed in certain. Its funny that the church in France considered pool as immoral. In the nineteenth century in America, the word “pool” room was used to mean a parlor room for horse race betting and was banned in a number of states in America.

Its said that Thomas Jefferson had a pool table that he hid in his home in Virginia. Nowadays, the terms pool room and billiard room mean the same thing.

Van campers all that you ever wanted to enjoy while camping

A camper van is a type of self-propelled vehicle that provides both transport and sleeping accommodation to the passenger of the driver. A camper van is especially designed to be used as an accommodation facility. It is fitted out with amenities that can be used for accommodation. These vans are usually considered as an alternative to the recreational vehicle or motorhouse. The reason is that they are compact and handle just like most vans.

A modern camper van consists of a gas or electric powered refrigerator, gas or electric grill, microwave, gas or electric powered water heater one or more than one standard sized beds, awning, air conditioning, wastewater tank, radio, shower, television aerial, satellite dish, toilet with removable disposal tank and electricity supplied by battery or external hookup.

With all the above-mentioned facilities, a camper van is supposed to provide you the best kind of accommodation. Millions of campers use this accommodation van year after year. You can see most campgrounds across the country filled with people looking to get out of their routine. These people want to enjoy the fresh air camping delivers them. The accommodations that most campers utilize usually vary with the kind of homes they come from.

There are some people who may opt for a minimum camping experience with a simple tent, campfire and shelter during their stay whereas others want to experience a lavish camping experience.

A camper van is the easiest way to carry a home away from home. It lets campers enjoy the best of camping experience. Since a campers van provides all the amenities one requires for accommodation while traveling, and is considered to be an ideal choice for campers.

Van campers are also officially known as Class B Motorhomes. These are customized cargo vans that have been converted in to a functioning camper. All you require to do is to raise the roof slightly in order to extend the length by a few feet and the passenger can easily sleep in it. It has all the specific amenities that can make a passenger feel comfortable.

Full sized RV vehicles were popular in earlier days. These vehicles are not preferred these days because they are difficult to drive in an urban setting where one can face heavy traffic. Van campers are capable of moving easily through any conditions. They are comfortable in muddy black roads and broad way. Today, owners of large recreational vehicles are switching over to van campers. This is one of the main reasons that van campers are famous among travelers these days.

However, most people think that a smaller interior would not be able to provide them the best of comfort while traveling. This is a myth. The smaller interior does not mean that a van camper is lacking in requisite amenities. It consists of all the necessary amenities important for a traveler. It consists of adept kitchen, sleeping and bathroom facilities with heating, air conditioning and televisions. All these amenities make van campers a delight to stay. It provides almost same fun as staying at a comfortable hotel for a night.

If you are seriously considering to purchase a recreational vehicle, you should consider purchasing a van camper. It will provide you the best of comfort and traveling experience. Believe it, a van camper is the best option for you.

Free golf lesson how to keep your head down eyes on the ball

Even after playing the game for years (decades?) you never know what's going to happen each time you step foot on the golf course. Personally speaking, it is this “unknown” aspect of golf that makes the game the most exciting sport to play, and nerve wracking too! I try to hit a full round at my local course at least three times per week and every game I play is an entirely new experience altogether.

Because of the hundreds of unexpected shots that golf brings you, it is imperative that you take advantage of your practice time. Regular practice is the only way that you can experience some of the irregular situations your golf ball may get into. And speaking of practice, the best advice that I can give is to start utilizing unconventional approaches to your golf game.

What Does Unconventional Practice Mean?

Far too many players spend the majority of their time hitting long distance shots at the golf range, with a small percentage attacking their basic short game shots. Either way, neither one of these approaches practiced 100% of the time will present you with the opportunity to make those strange and undesirable shots that a real golf game will inevitably give you.

Free Golf Lesson: Look Away

To give you a perfect example of an unconventional practice shot, here is a lesson that can help you keep your head down and eyes on the ball when initiating your swing when your ball is in a troubled spot.

Step 1: First take your stance to the right side of the ball if you are left handed, and to the left side of the ball if you are a righty. Now face away from the target. Not looking directly at the target may seem awkward at first, but go with it, relax, and loosen up your body.

Step 2: Now hold the club (whichever you like) with it extended downwards from your most dominant hand. The blade should be pointing towards the ground, directly at your feet.

Step 3: Next, place the blade of your club behind the golf ball and turn your head slightly back in order to properly aim your shot.

Step 4: Pull the club upwards while extending it forward. Then swing the club down and along your target line as best possible. Follow through as far as you possible can.

Step 5: Resist the urge to turn around to see the end result. Simply concentrate on following through and getting the ball back in to play towards the green.

We “older” golfers tend to forget basics, and/or ignore them…. Don’t, it’s always a good idea to get back to them regularly.

Internet poker strategy

When it comes to playing internet poker a good and intelligent player will base his play on the information that is available to him. It is important that they should have all the information relating to the basics of the game along with what betting limits are in place and just when they need to fold their cards. Certainly having a good internet poker strategy in place is extremely important to any player whether a novice or professional before they start playing.

When it comes to playing online today there are a number of different sites which now provide a facility for those playing to record the history of each game that they take part in. By having this facility available to them a player is able analyze their moves from a game they took part in previously and then using this they will be able to hopefully avoid making the same mistakes in the future. It is important that when working out any kind of strategy when taking part in a game of poker a player know how to calculate the pot odds in order that they can determine whether they are likely to win or not. Plus it will help them to find out which are the best kinds of hands to play in order to ensure that they win on a constant basis.

It is important that the strategies a person uses when playing should help them to decide when they should raise, when they should be betting and when they should fold as they need to be able to analyze very quickly how the game is going. It is important that they learn how to use tactics on how to bluff even if they hand they have is only moderate. Using this kind of strategy within a game will help to confuse those that they are playing against and may cause them to reveal their cards earlier than they wanted to.

It is important that one internet poker strategy that all players must keep in their mind at all times is not to play above their budget. Those that play within their budget limits will often find that they have increased their chances of winning as often they discover that their losses and their wins will generally cancel each other out through out the course of the days play. Therefore by developing your own strategy when playing internet poker will in turn help to increase your chances of winning in the future.

Top 5 things to look for in a vertical jump program

If you're looking to improve your basketball skills and want to jump higher or even dunk, vertical jump programs can help you out. Which jump programs actually deliver the goods though? There are so many different ones out there, and most of them make claims that they can't back up. If gaining 15 inches to your vertical without was really as easy as some programs make you think, wouldn't everybody be dunking by now? So how can you find a really good vertical program?

Here are the 5 things you should look for in a vertical jump program.

1. Uncomplicated instructions

It's important that you can understand what the creator of the program is talking about. It shouldn't matter if you're a beginner or a professional, the program should be easy for anybody to start doing without a glossary of complicated terms and words.

2. Plyometrics and weighlifting workout routines

Only programs that have plyo and weight workouts are helpful. If the product you're looking at doesn't have these things, there's no way it can help you jump higher. Plyometrics is all about explosive movements, which is something you'll need when you try and dunk.

3. Customizable workouts

All athletes are at different stages, and what might work for you probably wouldn't work for someone else. This is why it's very important that a program has enough workouts for beginners, intermediate and advanced ballers. That way, if you're really good at plyometrics workouts, but you've never lifted weights in your life, you can create a special workout made up of the exact programs that you need.

4. Improves overall strength and speed

If you can jump higher, you should automatically be stronger and faster, so if you're only able to jump an inch or two higher, the workout system you have is probably not helping you get stronger or faster.

5. Be Affordable

You shouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg just to jump high! There are some workouts out there that are worth the money, but very few of them actually are.

If you can find all five of these things in a vertical jump program, it's a good one, and you should try it out.

What you should know about fiberglass swimming pools

No, not all swimming pools are alike. Some are above ground, some in ground, some created out of plaster, while others are tiled. Still others are made of various materials, including fiberglass. A fiberglass swimming pool is one of the more common designs for people interested in building a pool, as it's surface is durable, easy to clean, and easy on the feet.

The nice thing about fiberglass swimming pool options is that they are prefabricated in a variety of shapes, sizes and depths. Installed in backyard pre-dug holes, the fiberglass form fits into the space like a glove, and you've got your swimming pool. Because they are sprayed with a special coating, a fiberglass swimming pool doesn't need a liner.

Liners are expensive and wear out over time, creating a mess that can damage filtering systems as well as costing pool owners a lot of money to repair or re-paint. Usually, a large truck transports the fiberglass shell to the home or business location, which provides quick and easy installation.

Another plus to owning or choosing to purchase a fiberglass pool is a rather low maintenance factor. The special coating deters molds and algae, which cut down not only on chemical use but also cleaning time. However, there are several things to consider before purchasing a pre-made fiberglass swimming pool.

Despite the advantages of buying a fiberglass pool shell, make sure that your property will allow a truck or crane to transport the shell into your property. Before that, it is essential to make sure that all preparation work has been completed and brought up to city codes for electrical and plumbing. Once the shell arrives, it must be inserted into the hole, layered with a couple of inches of sand.

This will allow installers to insure that your shell in level before any water is added. After that, a small amount of water will be added to the pool, while at the same time, sand is filled in around the sides. This is a very complicated and precise process that may take several hours and several attempts to ensure that your pool is leveled properly.

If you're up to that, then by all means, look for a fiberglass swimming pool to suit your needs. They are easy to maintain, never need resurfacing or an acid wash, and no seams mean no scuffed feet.

Fiberglass pools don't rust or peel, nor does fungus grow inside like it does on plaster or lined pools. Fiberglass pools are also heat efficient, which can save you money on your electric bills. Since it's bacteria and algae resistant, one can also save lots of time and money in the chemical department as well.

While the initial cost of a fiberglass swimming pool may seem a lot more than a plaster or lined pool, its efficiency and design will save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over the life of that pool. Always shop around, learn the basics, and then look for just the right shape, size and depth for that swimming pool that you've always wanted.
